Dedicated to the one I love... part 1

Yes... I am angry at you still! Can't you tell.

Because I still remember... Not only you cut my hair yourself instead of sending me for proper grooming, but I'm also angry at what you did to me recently. Oh... you also cut most of my right side whiskers!!!

You don't remember??? Let me refresh your mind. Can you see why I'm angry...grrrrr. How could you??? I hate bathing!

And I can't believe you're telling everybody about it.

Leave me alone lah....

Can I Borrow Your Book(s)?

I promised myself that I would spend more of my free time reading decent literatures. But often enough, when you have more free time on your hand, it means your pocket is in a sad poor state! Therefore, I am not reading as much as I wanted to (yeah...like this country has no public library).

If any of my friends reading this have any good books to lend, do let me know. I am more than willing to lend you mine. Here is my book list currently available:
  • The Shadow of the Wind - Carlos Ruiz Zafon
  • The Time Traveler's Wife - Audrey Niffenegger
  • Weekend in Paris - Robyn Sisman (an ok lah book)
  • Sons of Fortune - Jeffrey Archer
  • Let's Meet on Platform 8 & A Whiff of Scandal - Carole Matthews (a so-so book)
  • Devil Wears Prada - Lauren Weisberger (p/s I no like this one!)
  • Paddy Clarke Ha Ha Ha - Roddy Doyle (an old book)
  • A Hooded Crow - Craig Thomas (old book but good story)
  • The Cardinal Sins - Andrew M. Greeley (a very old book)
  • Sam The Cat - Matthew Klam (a boring book)
  • The Tenth Insight - James Redfield (confusing for me)

I also have other self help books, but I better not list them down here...(heh heh heh). You can ask me if you're curious!

By the way, anybody has Da Vincci Code?

Cooking and Single Woman

I had a lunch invitation for decent home cooked meal at my friend's house (her mom's actually) on Tuesday. Of course, I am never known to turn down such makan invitation, unless there's something really urgent that I can't get out from or the company is one that I do not wish to spend time with.

Lunch was good - ulam celur with power sambal belacan (first time I had daun mengkudu celur... and man!!!! it was so bitter that I almost cry), ikan kerisi (me think only lah) goreng berlada, kari nangka, kari ikan, taugeh goreng and bak choy gorent sos tiram... The lauk certainly deserve a big hearty burp afterwards!!! Oh... also got papadom!!! *BURP*

I don't think the host/cook realised how wonderful lunch there was for me!!!

For single person like me, cooking decent food at home poses a number of problems. The following facts apply:

1. Often enough, we can't cook typical malay dishes (probably due to lack of practice). My attempts at cooking these dishes normally ended up in the rubbish bin (read - not fit for human consumption). Besides, it is simply impossible to get decent recipies for traditional dishes with proper measurements. If you have come accross one, do share!

2. It is not economical to cook decent traditional lauk. Once I had a go at Masak Lemak Ikan Masin with Nenas, it cost me over RM25 just to get it cooked... and believe me, the taste at the nasi campur stall is much nicer in any given day! I was cooking for 3 other people and spend nearly 2 hours in the kitchen. Looking back.. probably cheaper to belanja them makan at our regular nasi campur joint. At least the taste is guaranteed.

3. The washing up afterwards is just not worth it. The amount of time you cook then add the amount of time you have to clean up the kitchen and wash the pots, pans, batu lesung, blender, etc.. just not worth the effort. Plus, you also waste on washing liquid and water... and bad for your nails!

4. Most importantly, single people who can't cook contribute more to the economy and society. We provide good business to the hawkers and restaurenters. Lets each contribute to the society and economy the best way we know of.

Meanwhile, this month of Syawal also see me eating leftover kuih raya for breakfast, lunch, dinner and supper!

Que sera... sera

On Modblog site today:
Update (11/22/05 @ 7:11PM CT): The ModBlog file server has returned online. We are performing necessary maintenance on the server now. Once this process is complete, ModBlog will return online.

Me think - ahhhh...whatever! As long as my cat still gives me a message (by the way, I had my shoulder massaged this morning...purrrrr), I am happy. The withdrawl symptoms of not able to blog on Modblog have dissapears sometimes ago.

I do wonder though how many blog migrations have taken place in this past week from Modblog...

Arghhhhhhhhhhhh

From Modblog site:

Update (11/22/05 @ 12:17AM CT): We are very, very sorry for the extended delay. Unfortunately, the person that is capable of repairing the problem was traveling over the weekend, and was unable to tend to the problem. We are now working as fast as possible to put ModBlog back online, and that should happen very soon. Frequent updates will follow this post until ModBlog is fully back online.

Update (11/17/05 @ 4:30AM CT): ModBlog will return online later today. We greatly apologize for ModBlog's downtime, and we are taking steps to ensure that this cause will not be an issue in the future. Complete details regarding ModBlog's downtime will be posted once it re-opens. We truly appreciate your patience, and we look forward to seeing you back at ModBlog!

Me think:

Arghhhhhhhhhhhh

On a lighter note - my cat gave me a face massage for about 10 minutes. I swear!!!! The best face massage ever!

Decision! Decision!! Decision!!!

I have been told a few times this week that "my cat" needs to be neutered. He is (roughly) over 4 months old now and by 6 months, I have to decide.

My first thought on this matter is... poor baby! I don't have the heart to decide on him loosing his "cathood"! That would be (in my opinion) humanly cruel. But then again, he is a cat. Today I had a cat chat with these 2 owners of pet shop near my place. One of them told me better decide soon as it might be hard for him to "behave" once he has had a go at mating.

Many people told me it is very humanly fair and safe to get the cat castrated. Hmmm... I have to think harder. Last week I told my brother to have a lookout for a female companion for my cat, which till today has no name yet.

At his babysitter (or is it cat sitter), they called him Kemek (he's a flat faced russian persian). The Mak Cik there called him Kemet. My brother refers to him as Comot (he's white and the flat face doesn't help him with face grooming). One of the pet shop owner asked me to name him Vodka (and for his future girlfriend to be named Caviar...hmmm). My brother's neigbour's son called him Jackpot.

I am still undecided. But in the meantime I call him Mee Oww (imitating his first kitten voice). At one point, I was thinking of RM.. short for Ricky Martin, but that name somehow doesn't fit him (why?.. I don't know really).

Maybe I should have a contest on "Name My Cat". And the winner shall have the pleasure of spending a few days babysitting him.... or a romantic dinner with him at my place... heh heh heh.

Addictive Additives

I had KFC burger and cheezy wedges for brunch today. The burger was a bit yucky (a piece of chicken stuck in between 2 burger buns... MacDonald's cheeseburger...now, that's the real fast food burger!) but the potato wedges was yummy (in my humble opinion). It was not fantastically yummy, but more like addictive yummy. Perhaps it taste good due to the combination of the food preservatives and artifical flavouring.

But whatever it is, I seriously think that whoever responsible should change the word additives to ADDICTIVES on the food label!!! You don't know what exactly they put in there but you know what it does to you after eating it.

Enough is enough

Today I spent more times looking at this blog and decided to move/duplicate my blog to this site.

Modblog has been down for the second time! I like it there but disruptions are not something that you welcome often. What a girl to do when faced with this situation!

So, today, here I am... on blogger site!
